Tizen Association Gaining Support with 36 New Partners on Board
November 13, 2013

The Tizen Association, which is led by Samsung and Intel with an aim to develop an open source OS (operating system), announced the inclusion of 36 new partners, including eBay, Nokia's Here, McAfee, Panasonic, and Sharp, to name a few, according to the association's news release on November 11. The Linux-based Tizen OS supports HTML5 applications, and will be applied not only on smartphones and tablets, but also on smart TVs and vehicle infotainment systems. The absence of application mandates makes Tizen OS more favorable for telecom operators and device makers to customize the OS in accordance with customers' preference.
